A Yellow-brown Colour, Sienna Is Part Of A Group Collectively Known As 'earth Colours'. Shades Of Sienna Vary In Hue And Have Different Names Depending On The Colour. Raw Sienna However, Comes From Iron Ore Or Ferric Oxide Naturally Found In Clays. Unlike Yellow Ochres, Which Are Generally Opaque, Siennas Are More Transparent. Sienna Was One Of The First Pigments Used For Painting And Can Be Found In Prehistoric Cave Art. However, It Was Not Until The Dawning Of The Renaissance In The 14th Century That The Pigment Was Further Developed For Artistic Use.
