Roberson Gum Ammoniac Is A Traditional, Watersoluble Natural Resin Used Primarily In Gilding And Manuscript Illumination. It Acts As A Mordant, Helping Gold Leaf Adhere To A Surface Once It Reaches The Correct Tackiness, And Is Particularly Valued In Restoration Work And Historical Techniques For Its Authenticity And Ease Of Use. When Soaked In Hot Water It Will Yield A Smooth Milky Substance Used By Calligraphers For Gilding And Can Be Applied Using A Dip Pen Or Brush.
