Product Description

The "tunica" was adopted by the Romans in the 3rd century BC and was based on a Greek design. It was made from wool and was worn in one form or another by all classes within Roman society. The level of decoration would normally indicate the status of the wearer. Plain tunics would be worn by soldiers, slaves and manual workers and would usually terminate a little above the knee. It was worn as a loose fitting garment (more like wearing a tent than a shirt) and was worn by both genders. Our Roman Tunic is based on an authentic period design and is made from thick wool. It is dyed red indicating that wearer would probably be a soldier (although soldiers were known to have worn a variety of colours including white).  Key Features: Made from Wool Available in one size only (up to 60" chest) Suitable for re-enactment and Living History
