Morandé Reserva 1+1 País, Maule Valley 2021/23

Pablo Morandé was the first person to plant vines in the Casablanca Valley and he founded Viña Morandé a few years later in 1996. As well as being the first in Casablanca Valley, it was also the first vineyard to be classified as sustainable in Chile. The País grapes come from the area of Melozal, located in the Secano Interior of the Maule Valley. The region’s geography features the distinctive rolling hills of the Coastal Range as well as a warm, dry climate. The vineyards are over 80 years old, and grow very naturally, high head-pruned and only irrigated by rain. It is full of red fruit aromas, such as raspberries and sour cherries, in addition to faint earthy and spicy notes like cinnamon. It's intensely fresh and fruity with a medium body that perfectly matches cured meats and cheeses, tomato-based pasta and spicy dishes.
