Les Angelots de Villemaurine 2017, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

On the right bank of Bordeaux, Saint-Émilion is famed for its plush reds – and Les Angelots de Villemaurine is no exception. Wine has been made under the Villemaurine name since the 1800s. But today, the estate is owned by the Lefevere family, who have taken over the 12 hectare vineyard, 7 of which is Grand Cru Classé. A blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, this wine boasts flavours of blackcurrant, plum and prune, with a hint of smoke, and a nutty, chocolate finish. The elegant, structured, and fine tannins pair perfectly with ratatouille and grilled meats.
