Product Description

Bring a touch of the exotic to your garden with the Tahiti Lime, a fabulous addition to patios, producing vibrant green, zesty fruits throughout the year. Set against glossy, dark foliage and fragrant white flowers, the seedless limes can take up to a year to ripen, eventually turning yellow if left on the tree. Once harvested, the fruits will keep for up to two weeks. These self-fertile trees, propagated onto ‘PS’ rootstock, are typically sold as large specimen bushes, often already bearing fruit, in 5-litre pots. While they can withstand brief periods of cold below 0°C, they flourish best in large containers that can be moved indoors to a bright, frost-free location from autumn to spring. For optimal growth, plant your citrus tree in patio containers using a mix of ericaceous compost and neutral, soil-based compost such as John Innes No.3. Ensure the plant remains at its original soil level when repotting and firm it well into the new container. Water thoroughly and position the tree in a frost-free area with full sun exposure. From May to October, your citrus tree will happily reside outdoors. During the summer months, water generously and mist the leaves daily to increase humidity and deter pests. Feed the plant with a citrus fertiliser every two weeks. As October approaches, relocate the tree indoors to a bright, frost-free spot (ideally between 4-12°C), away from cold draughts and radiators. In winter, reduce watering, but ensure the plant does not dry out completely, as both overwatering and underwatering can cause fruit drop. Ideal for patios, kitchen gardens, greenhouses, conservatories, scented gardens, exotic gardens, and as a specimen plant, the Tahiti Lime is a versatile choice for any gardening enthusiast.
