Product Description

ABOUT THE WINE. Château Nénin sits just outside the village of Catusseau in the heart of Pomerol, Bordeaux's smallest yet most revered appellation. The 32-hectare estate, owned by Domaines Delon since 1997 (also proprietors of Château Léoville Las Cases), has undergone extensive modernisation, transforming Nénin into one of Pomerol's most exciting properties. The vineyards, planted on clay-gravel soils with iron-rich subsoils, are ideal for Merlot and Cabernet Franc, delivering wines of elegance and remarkable ageing potential. 2019 was a warm and balanced vintage, producing wines with bold fruit, supple tannins, and great vibrancy.. TASTING NOTES. Composed of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Nénin opens with intense aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry, and mulberry, interwoven with notes of lavender, graphite, cocoa nib, and a whisper of smoky oak. The palate is generous and concentrated yet remarkably poised, with velvety tannins framing the luscious fruit. Hints of liquorice, pencil shavings, and crushed herbs add depth and savouriness. The finish is long and harmonious, showcasing the energy and finesse of the vintage.. FOOD PAIRING. An ideal partner for classic French fare: try it with duck confit, beef Wellington, or a truffled mushroom and lentil ragout. The richness of the wine also complements aged hard cheeses such as Comté or Manchego, and its structure handles hearty autumnal dishes with ease.. FRIARWOOD SAYS. The 2019 Château Nénin is a confident, richly layered Pomerol that brings together depth, structure, and freshness in a beautifully expressive vintage. Youthful and vibrant today, it will reward cellaring over the next two decades with ever-evolving nuance and finesse.
