His late father, Gerd, was one of the very first Spätburgunder producers in Germany to give his wines some serious French oak treatment, a wine making philosophy that Alexander continues today. Made in limited quantities we cannot predict how long the 2019 vintage will be available but suspect it’ll disappear pretty quickly. It looks lovely in your glass with its bright colouring, but this belies the depth of flavour and satisfaction this wine provides. Berried flavours may well rule the way but there are also hints of cigar and spice. A treat- and one that will surprise many.
