Fargesia 'Asian Wonder' is a clump-forming bamboo that brings a touch of the tropics to your garden with its ruby-red stems and olive-green foliage. Easy to grow and quick to establish, Umbrella Bamboo is a superb choice for creating privacy screens and reducing traffic noise and pollution. As the canes mature, reveal the decorative stems by removing some of the lower leaves.This architectural plant adds structure and movement to garden borders, beds and pots, and looks stunning against walls and fences where you want a full screen. When planting in pots, use a soil-based compost, water well, and place in full sun or partial shade. Alternatively, plant directly into borders in moist, free-draining soil. Bamboos dislike dry conditions, so enrich poor, free-draining soils with well-rotted manure or garden compost before planting.
