Product Description

Gooseberry Giggles Gold - grow your own delicious berries! These gorgeous plants, supplied as 9cm potted specimens, will thrive in your garden, rewarding you with a plentiful supply of medium-sized berries perfect for snacking. For best results, plant your gooseberry bushes in a sunny, open location with well-drained soil. Enrich the soil with well-rotted manure or garden compost before planting. Remove any shoots or dormant buds from the base of the plant to prevent unwanted suckers. Plant at a distance of 1.5m (5') apart, ensuring the planting depth matches the original nursery soil level, indicated by a mark on the stem.Product Specifications:.Hardy Shrub.Position: Sun or Semi Shade.Supplied as 9cm Potted Plants.Water well during the first year to ensure the plants establish fully. During hot periods, maintain consistent soil moisture. Remove any suckers that appear at the base of the plant. Netting the bushes will protect the developing fruit from birds.Harvest some gooseberries in May for cooking and freezing, allowing the remaining fruit to ripen fully in June for fresh eating. Prune in winter, removing dead, damaged, and crossing stems. Thin the remaining stems to create an upright, open bush, and shorten them by half. In spring, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost to the soil.Images are for guidance only. Results may vary based on growing conditions. Images may be included for illustration of supply but can vary due to seasonal changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
