Lavatera 'Barnsley Baby' is a delightful dwarf Mallow, a cottage garden favourite offering a unique twist with its compact size and abundant blooms. Perfectly suited for patio containers or smaller gardens, this well-branched variety is sure to capture attention with its profusion of soft pink flowers, which are highly attractive to bees and butterflies. Once established, this low-maintenance plant exhibits good drought tolerance.Supplied as 1 x 9cm pot containing plug plants, initially pot up the plug plants and nurture them in frost-free conditions. After the risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise the mallow to outdoor conditions over 7-10 days. Transplant into borders or containers, ensuring moist, well-drained soil and a sunny location. When planting in containers, opt for a soil-based compost such as John Innes No. 3. During the establishment phase, provide regular feeding and watering. Established plants require minimal care.Pruning is best carried out in spring, after the last frost and as buds begin to swell.
