Product Description

This ready-to-grow runner bean collection offers a perfect pairing of varieties, supplied as established plants, ready for immediate planting upon their arrival. This combination of 'Scarlet Empire' and 'White Swan' runner beans ensures impressive garden performance, delivering both beautiful red and white blooms, followed by abundant harvests of delicious beans. The upright stems make for easy picking, with plants producing plentiful, top-quality pods from mid-summer right through to October. The pairing of these two excellent varieties creates an eye-catching display in any vegetable plot. This collection features: Runner Bean 'Scarlet Empire' and Runner Bean 'White Swan'. 'White Swan' is a vigorous, white-flowered, white-seeded variety, producing outstanding pods approximately 28cm in length. 'Scarlet Empire', bred from the popular 'Scarlet Emperor', boasts longer, smoother, slender, stringless pods, while retaining the early maturity, flavour, and productivity of its predecessor. For optimal growth, plant runner beans outdoors in rich, fertile, well-drained soil, in a sunny or partially shaded location, sheltered from strong winds. Avoid using freshly manured soil, as this encourages excessive foliage growth at the expense of bean production. Runner beans require support from garden canes, strings, or netting, which should be installed upon planting. Note: Images are for illustrative purposes only and represent expected results upon maturity; differing growing conditions may affect results. Image may illustrate supply but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
