Magnolia 'Red Lucky' Patio Standard is a superb specimen plant that often flowers twice a year, making it an exceptional addition to any garden. For optimal growth, plant in a sunny or semi-shaded location, ensuring protection from cold winds and harsh spring frosts. Magnolias thrive in rich, moist, well-drained, acid to neutral soil. Before planting, enrich the soil with plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost, mixing it thoroughly and deeply.To encourage quicker establishment, shade the roots of magnolia plants. After planting, apply a mulch of rotted bark chips, manure, or garden compost, being careful not to mound it around the stem. Water regularly throughout the growing season until young magnolias are fully established. In spring, replenish the mulch with well-rotted bark chips or garden compost at the base of the plant.Magnolias require minimal pruning, primarily to maintain their shape and remove any damaged or crossing stems.
