Product Description

Magnolia 'Red Lucky' Patio Standard is a superb specimen plant that often flowers twice a year, making it an exceptional addition to any garden. The blooms present white petals delicately flushed with deep pink markings, gracing your garden in spring and again in late summer. This low-maintenance, deciduous magnolia is perfect for growing in a large container on the patio or as part of a decorative border display. For optimal growth, plant in a sunny or semi-shaded location, ensuring protection from cold winds and harsh spring frosts. Magnolias thrive in rich, moist, well-drained, acid to neutral soil. Before planting, enrich the soil with plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost, mixing it thoroughly and deeply. To encourage quicker establishment, shade the roots of magnolia plants. After planting, apply a mulch of rotted bark chips, manure, or garden compost, being careful not to mound it around the stem. Water regularly throughout the growing season until young magnolias are fully established. In spring, replenish the mulch with well-rotted bark chips or garden compost at the base of the plant.Magnolias require minimal pruning, primarily to maintain their shape and remove any damaged or crossing stems. The young flowers, once separated, can be pickled and then used either on their own as a treat or in salads. This hardy plant is ideal for patios, low-maintenance gardens, as a specimen plant, or in woodland gardens. It is easy for all to grow and requires easy aftercare. It can reach a height and spread of up to 180cm (70.9in). Supplied at approximately 1m (40”) tall.
