Hiking in Psiloritis Mountain (Ida Mt.) Crete

Psiloritis Mountain is the highest mountain on the island of Crete (2,456m). The Greek Mythology is set at the mountain range of Psiloritis where Idaion Antron is located. According to greek mythology, there is the cave where Deus, the King of the Gods, was raised. The ruins at Ancient Zominthos and the surrounding areas mark the occupation of Psiloritis mountain, since the Minoan period. Diachronic exploitation of the landscape is visible, with many scattered villages near the fringes of the mountain and intense pastoral practices held by the locals at the hillsides.
